About Me

I’m Dr. Victoria Buttery, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Resilience Psychological Services. I work with Christian adults struggling with anxiety, stress, trauma, and PTSD, as well as those looking to invest in their personal growth.

I often work with people who are thoughtful and motivated, but feel stuck in patterns that are difficult to change on their own. Therapy with me involves more than simply talking about what is wrong; insight matters, but so does what we do with it. We take time to understand what is happening beneath the surface, while focusing equally on the practical tools needed for daily life. Our work centers on learning new skills, responding to thoughts and emotions with more awareness, facing pain honestly, and taking steps toward the life, relationships, and character you hope to cultivate.

Faith and Therapy

My Christian faith shapes how I understand healing, suffering, growth, and life. I believe God is ultimately the source of healing and transformation, and that therapy can be a structured space to gain clarity, practice new tools, and participate in the work He is doing in your life.

Faith-integrated therapy does not mean forcing quick spiritual answers or avoiding pain. In our work together, there is room for honesty, grief, and uncertainty, as we pursue practical steps toward change. Wherever you are in your faith journey, whether you have followed Christ for decades, are newly returning, or feel unsure where you stand, you are welcome here.

Clinical Background & Expertise

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California with extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of PTSD and trauma-related concerns. A significant portion of my clinical career was spent within the VA San Diego Healthcare System, where from 2016 to 2023 I served as a staff psychologist, team lead, and ultimately the facility’s PTSD Director.

In those roles, I worked with individuals processing the aftermath of trauma (including combat and first-responder critical incidents, life-threatening accidents, sexual assault, domestic violence, and childhood abuse). My work focused on helping individuals address the ongoing impact of these events, which typically manifested as PTSD symptoms, anxiety, depression, difficulties regulating emotions, relationship struggles, and self-doubt. Alongside providing individual and group therapy, I trained and supervised psychology trainees in research-supported trauma treatments.

While much of my clinical work has focused on specialized trauma recovery, I established Resilience Psychological Services in 2021 to support a broader range of adults. I work with individuals facing everything from deep past wounds to everyday stress and anxiety, as well as those looking to invest in their personal growth. My goal is to provide a space where adults can access structured, research-supported therapy that explicitly values and integrates their Christian faith. Across all areas of my practice, my approach remains practical, collaborative, and focused on helping you build effective tools for daily life.

A Little More Personally

Outside of my work, I enjoy rooting for Philadelphia sports teams (Go Birds!), hiking, reading spy novels, baking anything chocolate, going on walks with my Cavapoo, Beau, and spending time with my family.

If you would like to explore working together, I invite you to schedule a brief phone consultation.
